18·21 - prohibition never tasted this good
A speakeasy style craft cocktail lounge
The story of 18·21
It started, as most good things do, with friends in a kitchen.
Three couples. All high school sweethearts. All raised within a couple hours of Leland. Twenty-plus years of friendship, the kind built on backyard cookouts and school pickup lines, on raising kids who grew up calling each other's parents by first name, on the sort of loyalty that doesn't need to be spoken because it just is.
Chris and Aaron spent years in the same firehouse together — the kind of trust that builds between firefighters doesn't stay at the station. It comes home. It becomes family. And that's exactly what the three couples became. Chris and Jody. Derek and Connie. Aaron and Jessica. Zeke, Dylan, and Lydia on the same baseball diamond with Chris and Derek coaching from the dugout. Layla and Seth trailing behind at every cookout like little shadows. Jessica pouring wine while the kids chased each other through the yard.
Somewhere along the way, between the baseball games and the Saturday night dinners, a tradition took shape. Someone would pull out a shaker. Someone else would grab the good bourbon. And the kitchen counter would become a bar — messy, loud, and perfect.
Then came the trips. A resort in the Dominican Republic. A week on a lake. But also the kind of trips where you spend an entire evening hunting down a speakeasy hidden behind a laundromat in Nashville, or stepping through a red phone booth into a candlelit cocktail den because someone heard it was worth finding, or ending up in a pirate-themed bar tucked away in Tampa, drinking something smoky out of a skull mug and loving every second of it. They fell in love with those places — the ones that feel like secrets, where the drinks are made with intention and the room hums with something you can't quite name.
On one of those nights — probably a little too late, probably after one more round than anyone needed — someone said it out loud.
"We should do this. For real."
And for once, nobody laughed it off.
This area already had everything they loved — the people, the community that had held their families together for two decades. What it didn't have was a place like the ones they kept chasing in other cities. Dimly lit. Intentional. A little mysterious. The kind of room where the outside world stays outside.
So three couples who had raised their kids together decided to build something new together — a prohibition-era inspired speakeasy rooted in craft cocktails, community, and the belief that the best nights are the ones you have to know about to find.
The name? The 18th Amendment took the drinks away. The 21st brought them back. 18·21 lives in the spirit of both — a nod to a time when a good cocktail was worth seeking out, and the company you kept while drinking it mattered more than anything in the glass.
About 18·21
In 1920, America went dry. But some traditions are too refined to abandon.
18·21 takes its name from the bookends of Prohibition: the 18th Amendment that banned alcohol in 1920, and the 21st Amendment that repealed it in 1933. We honor that thirteen-year rebellion—a time when cocktails were an art form, speakeasies thrived in the shadows, and the finest things in life were worth the risk.
Today, 18·21 is a members-only speakeasy style craft cocktail lounge where prohibition-era elegance meets modern mixology. Tucked away from the noise of the everyday, our intimate space transports you to a time when drinks were made with care, conversation flowed as smoothly as the spirits, and every night held the promise of something extraordinary.
Behind our doors, you'll find meticulously crafted cocktails made with premium spirits, house-made ingredients, and techniques borrowed from the golden age of bartending. Each drink tells a story. Each visit feels like a secret worth keeping.
This isn't just a bar. It's an escape—a place where sophistication meets rebellion, where the curious become regulars, and where the best nights are the ones that stay between these walls.
